An Island at the Tate

In September 2024 we were thrilled to work with the vibrant Christina Peake to build the structure for a small island that featured in a Tate Modern display. It beautifully highlighted the potential for modern technology within the UKs museum collections and the importance of equal representation within the art world.

Christina Peake’s ‘The Faith, Spirits and Testimonies of Granny Lowe and the Bajan Sea’ was one of four installations that were part of the Tate’s ‘Transforming Collections: Reimagining Art, Nation and Heritage’ research project.

Working on this project was very different and a lot of fun, we all enjoy a break from the norm now and then, especially when the results are as stunning as this project. A big thanks to Christina.

Stylish space saving in Chiswick!

We had the opportunity to work on two rooms for this project!

A pair of matching bedroom alcoves and a home office space including built-in cabinets, shelving and a large curved desk to maximise the functionality of our customers home work space.

The choice of white running through both rooms helped keep both spaces light and spacious.

Using traditional shaker doors and spelt draw fronts was the perfect way to fit the aesthetic of the rest of our customers home and we love the final result!

Maximizing space with style!

After being let down last minute and with a baby on the way we jumped into action to provide some much needed storage space that fit seamlessly into our customers beautiful home decor.

Working from a sketch she provided we got to work on this unique project which turned out fantastically, not only as a stand alone piece of joinery but as a sleek, complimentary addition to her house.

We incorporated hanging rails, adjustable shelving, soft close drawer runners and soft close concealed hinges along with warm LEDs on sensors. We used Egger ‘Vintage Sante Fe’ for the internal carcasses, shelves and drawers – which are all grain matched – and Finsa ‘Hidrofugo’ MRMDF for the externals and doors which were then hand painted in Farrow and Ball ‘Selvedge’.

We managed to complete the project with time to spare and the client is thrilled with the work, as are we!

Accommodating lifestyles.

A family in Putney desperately needed a space to keep their shoes, coats and other outdoor equipment to accommodate their active lifestyle.

Our team at A. Jones Joinery jumped to the challenge, making the most of the space they had to provide a practical and attractive solution.

When designing the boot room we made sure to provide our customer with the practicality they were after while also maximizing the flow of the space which, in turn, created a sense of space and light.

The chosen paint contrasted perfectly with the wooden floors, high ceilings and large windows bringing the whole room together.

Painted by Neil Pendleton in the colour 'Livid', provided by Little Greene.

Working with you!

We thoroughly enjoyed working on this installation. When a customer comes to us with a full design in mind, it is a wonderful opportunity to get some extra inspiration for future projects and push the boundaries of what we can achieve.

With the assistance of London Furniture Studio and their CNC machine adding the unique and intricate details to the cupboard doors we were able to bring together our customers creative and stylish idea to make it a reality.

Being able to work this closely with our customers we were able to deliver a result that perfectly suited their life.
Whether it was the aesthetic shapes, their choice of paint colour or the perfect cuts that allowed these alcoves to fit seamlessly with the rest of the room, our customer received exactly what they envisioned which is always sure to leave everyone satisfied!
